PicksYou

When a customer asks AI who to call, does it pick you?

We ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Grok and Claude what a new customer would ask in your town. Your free check asks ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, and you read every answer.

We then ask the questions somebody types when they want this online: best, most reliable, cheapest to order from. No town in the question, and no country either.

The same questions run every Monday: the count, its usual range and every answer land in one weekly email. The full method, and the full list of what we will not do: How we measure.

What it checks

The same questions, asked again every Monday, of the assistants your customers already use. Counted, never guessed.

The assistants people actually ask

We ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Grok and Claude through their own official routes.

The free check asks ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews; a paid week asks Grok and Claude as well. No consumer app is scraped, and every answer is stored word for word, as the assistant gave it.

The questions a customer would ask

Written for your kind of business and the town you work in, in the words somebody looking for you would type.

You read the list before the first run, and you can swap the ones that do not fit.

Asked more than once, so luck shows

The free check asks 5 questions of 3 assistants: 15 answers in all.

One answer is a coin toss. A count over many answers is a count, and the range printed beside it says how much of it could still be luck.

What you get back

Four things, every Monday, and not one of them is a number out of a hundred.

  • A count with its honest range. The count, and the range a week like it usually lands in, printed side by side so a lucky week does not read as growth.
  • Every answer, word for word.Your name marked where it appears, the assistant that answered named, the sites it cited listed. An uncertain match is checked by a person and is never called a hit.
  • Who was named beside you.The other businesses in the same answers, as names and counts. No league table, and no position.
  • One email, Monday morning. The count, its range and every answer, in your inbox before the week starts.

What can be fixed

Some of what keeps a business out of an answer is on its own site, and most of it is small. We list what is in the way, with a draft fix for each one and what we found that says so.

  • Your website turns the AI crawlers awayAllow the AI crawlers in robots.txt. A web person needs about five minutes.
  • Your homepage carries no business details a machine can readAsk whoever looks after your site to add your name, address and phone number as LocalBusiness details.
  • Missing from the local best of pages the assistants readBoth sites say how to get added. Ask, and point them at your reviews and photos.
  • Nothing is published without your click.Every fix is a draft until you approve it, the approval is logged with its time and the exact text, and you can undo it from the same page.

What is in the way

What a check lists, on the worked example. Each row opens what we found and the draft fix.

Your website turns the AI crawlers away
cliftonsmile.co.uk blocks GPTBot and PerplexityBot in robots.txt. An assistant that cannot read your site has only what other sites say about you, or nothing at all.
Your homepage carries no business details a machine can read
We read cliftonsmile.co.uk and found no business details block on it. Without it an assistant has to guess who the page belongs to.
Missing from the local best of pages the assistants read
The answers cited three Bristol best dentists pages. One lists you; two do not. Assistants pull names from these pages before anywhere else, so a missing name is rarely picked.

What a fix looks like when it worked

One fix, one fetch and one later reading, on the worked example. Each line is a receipt the dashboard keeps, with the time it happened.

  1. Mon 31 Aug, 06:00 UTCthe Monday check The site turns the AI crawlers away.robots.txt on cliftonsmile.co.uk blocks them. It goes on the list of what is in the way, with a one line draft fix under it.
  2. Wed 2 Sep, 10:14 UTCthe approval You approve the draft fix.One line is added to robots.txt. The approval is logged with its time and the exact text, and it can be undone from the same page.
  3. Wed 2 Sep, 13:40 UTCthe server log The crawler comes and reads the site.Read out of the access log you uploaded. It is the first fetch by that crawler since we started looking.
  4. Mon 7 Sep, 06:00 UTCthe next Monday check The site is cited again, and the count moves.Named in 4 of 15 this week. 4 sits inside the usual range of 2 to 6, so whether the extra namings are the fix or the week's luck, we say we cannot tell yet.

What people ask before they check

Short answers. The long ones are on the methodology page, with the full list of what we will not do.

How we measure

Is this SEO?

No. We do not touch search results and we promise nothing about them. We ask the assistants what a customer asks, count how often you are named, and show you the answers. Whatever you fix afterwards, you approve first.

What do you do with my business name?

We put it in the questions, mark it in the answers, and keep the answers so you can read them later. We do not sell it, list it, or write about it anywhere. The free check needs no account.

Will you publish anything on my site?

Never without your click. A fix is a draft until you approve it, the approval is logged with its time and the exact text, and you can undo it from the same page.

How sure is the count?

As sure as the answers behind it can make it, and we print how sure that is beside every count. The free check is a small sample and says so itself: the range it prints is wide on purpose. More questions and more assistants measure more of what is out there; they do not make one number sharper.

What does it cost after the free check?

The free check is free. The weekly plans are on the pricing page, monthly, with no trial and no annual contract. Ending one takes two clicks from your billing page, under fifteen seconds, and nobody asks you why.
